EKU has several custom study abroad programs! 

Student Teaching in Ireland (Fall Term & Spring Term)

EKU student teachers may complete a portion of their student teaching in South Dublin schools.   Become a more well-rounded teacher as you experience the Irish classroom environment. For more information, contact Dr. Ann Burns:

Jamaica (Fall 2017)

The EHS Island Experience is held in Jamacia where student have the opportunity to partcipate in the One Health: One Global Environment Conference. Students will also take part in an inspection of a floating city-sized cruise ship and learn about mosquito/vector control from world experts. For more info, please email

Florence Winter (January) at Accademia Europea di Firenze

Food, Fashion, and Family in Florence (Winter)

Students will study the integration of foods and nutrition, fashion and apparel, and children and families within the context of the Italian culture. The course will emphasize the interdisciplinary nature of these fields and the benefits to individuals, families, and communities. Students will access the rich resources of Florence by visiting food markets, wineries and culinary schools, fashion design houses, programs for children and families, and textile factories. Potential volunteer and service learning opportunities exist in programs servicing children and families and also with industry during fashion week.  Gen Ed Element VI.  For more info, please email

RMI London (Spring)

Students will visit Risk Managment and Insurance institutions while exploring the cultural and historic sights in London. For more information, please email

Deaf Studies Abroad (Spring/Summer)

Join our American Sign Language and Interpreter Education Department as they take students to explore deaf culture in other countries.  (3 weeks, 3 credit hours).  Previous locations have included France and Spain. For more information, contact Dr. Laurence Hayes:

Cetacean Psychology in the Bahamas (Summer 2018)

Student have the oppurtunity to study dolphin behavior in the wild on our Cetacean Psychology program in the Bahamas. Animal Studies students at EKU have the unique opportunity to participate in a field study of these majestic creatures in partnership with the Dolphin Communication Project. For more information, contact Dr. Radhika Makecha:

Florence Summer at Accademia Europea di Firenze

EKU offers a selection of summer classes at AEF.  Students can earn 6 hours:  3 hours from an EKU professor and 3 hours from a professor at AEF. For more information, contact the Education Abroad Office:

  3. Select your program from the programs listed on the Markeplace page.

  4. Select the appropriate payment amount.

  5. Complete the payment process.

  6. Print a copy of your receipt and bring it to the education abroad office in Keith 129 along with your completed application.
