Custom EKU Programs

EKU has several custom study abroad programs! 

Student Teaching in Ireland (Fall Term & Spring Term)

EKU student teachers may complete a portion of their student teaching in South Dublin schools.   Become a more well-rounded teacher as you experience the Irish classroom environment. Application dates are the same as for traditional student teaching.  Please apply through EKU Direct.  For more information, contact Dr. James Dantic james.dantic@eku.edu

Music Studies in Salzburg, Austria (upcoming dates TBA)

Join the School of Music for a unique program in Salzburg, Austria.  Students may take Conducting or a voice course in Baroque Opera.  For more information please contact Curtis Streetman curtis.streetman@eku.edu

Jamaica (upcoming dates TBA)

The EHS Island Experience is held in Jamaica. Students will also take part in an inspection of a floating city-sized cruise ship and learn about mosquito/vector control from world experts.  Students will investigate waste management issues faced by islands. For more info, please email gary.brown@eku.edu

Florence Winter (January) at Accademia Europea di Firenze

Food, Fashion, and Family in Florence (Winter)

Students will study the integration of foods and nutrition, fashion and apparel, and children and families within the context of the Italian culture. The course will emphasize the interdisciplinary nature of these fields and the benefits to individuals, families, and communities. Students will access the rich resources of Florence by visiting food markets, wineries and culinary schools, fashion design houses, programs for children and families, and textile factories. Potential volunteer and service learning opportunities exist in programs servicing children and families and also with industry during fashion week.  Gen Ed Element VI.  For more info, please email dana.bush@eku.edu

Deaf Studies Abroad (Spring/Summer)

Join our American Sign Language and Interpreter Education Department as well as our Occupational Science department as they take students to explore deaf culture in other countries.  (3 weeks, 3 credit hours).  Previous locations have included France and Spain. Cetacean Psychology in the Bahamas (Summer 2019)

Students have the oppurtunity to study dolphin behavior in the wild on our Cetacean Psychology program in the Bahamas. Animal Studies students at EKU have the unique opportunity to participate in a field study of these majestic creatures in partnership with the Dolphin Communication Project. For more information, contact Dr. Radhika Makecha: radhika.makecha@eku.edu

Florence Summer at Accademia Europea di Firenze

EKU offers a selection of summer classes at AEF.  Students can earn 6 hours:  3 hours from an EKU professor and 3 hours from a professor at AEF. For more information, contact the Education Abroad Office: ekuabroad@eku.edu

  1. Click on the payment link below. 

  2. Read the instructions on the main Marketplace page.

  3. Select your program from the programs listed on the Markeplace page.

  4. Select the appropriate payment amount.

  5. Complete the payment process.

  6. Print a copy of your receipt and bring it to the education abroad office in Keith 129 along with your completed application.
