EKU has several custom study abroad programs! 

Student Teaching in Ireland (Fall Term and Spring Term)

EKU student teachers may complete a portion of their student teaching in South Dublin schools. Become a more well-rounded teacher as you experience the Irish classroom environment. Application dates are the same as for traditional student teaching. Florence Winter (January) at Accademia Europea di Firenze

Food, Fashion, and Family in Florence (Winter)

Students will study the integration of foods and nutrition, fashion and apparel, and children and families within the context of the Italian culture. The course will emphasize the interdisciplinary nature of these fields and the benefits to individuals, families, and communities. Students will access the rich resources of Florence by visiting food markets, wineries and culinary schools, fashion design houses, programs for children and families, and textile factories. Potential volunteer and service-learning opportunities exist in programs servicing children and families and also with industry during fashion week.  Gen Ed Element VI.  For more info, please email dana.bush@eku.edu

Study Art Education in England (June)

Study Art Education and live in Harlaxton College located in Victorian manor house in Grantham, England AND visit the English cities of Nottingham, York, Cambridge, and London. For more information, please email Ilona.Szekely@eku.edu

Study Bimini Dolphin Communication in the Bahamas (June)

Students will be introduced to the study of cetacean behavior, cognition, and ecology via comparative method. A combination of lectures, readings, discussion, and hand-on research will focus the course’s learning goals. Lectures will feature an understanding cetacean behavior from an ecological and evolutionary perspective. Readings and discussion will focus on current research and methodology. The classroom lectures and discussion will provide the framework for students to develop an understanding of the subject matter while the fieldwork will give students an introduction to the skills necessary to conduct the preliminary cetacean behavior research. Study Occupational Therapy in Ireland (June)

Compare and contrast the occupational therapy systems in the United States to Ireland. Visit Strides Stable that provides Equine Therapy/Hippotherapy. Receive a full presentation and tour of the facility before getting the opportunity to meet with some of the patients and experience a full hands-on experience with them. Visit the medical school at Trinity College Dublin for an idea exchange with students from the OT B.Sc undergraduate program. Visit the National Rehabilitation Hospital where you will receive a presentation from a senior member of staff as well as a tour of the facility which will include some in-patient care and treatment.
